Coiled Wire S Clasp

Use an S clasp to connect the ends of an asymmetrical necklace.

Materials for an S clasp:
20 or 22-gauge Artistic Wire
18 or 20-gauge Artistic Wire
(choose the wire gauge based on the desired look/strength of the clasp)

Tools
Round-nose pliers
Chain-nose pliers
Wire cutters
Hammer & bench block
Coiling Gizmo or thin dowel
Ruler

1. Use the thinner wire and Coiling Gizmo to make a coil.

2. Cut the coil to about 2 ½".

3.  Cut a piece of wire that's slightly longer than the coil.

4. Use round-nose pliers to make a basic loop on one end of the wire.

5. Pass the coil onto the wire and make another basic loop.

6. Bend the wire in an S shape, using your fingers to form wide curves.

7. Hammer it gently so the wire will retain the S shape.

8. Use the coiled S as a clasp, pendant or link.
