Embellished Double-Needle Weave

Use a double-needle weave technique to create the foundation of the cuff, and then embellish it with smaller crystal and metal beads to add extra dimension and flair.

Materials for the turquoise bracelet:

4mm crystal AB rounds from SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS
3mm faceted cubes from TierraCast
silver 11/0 seed beads from Toho
3mm turquoise cubes from Toho
.015" diameter silver Beadalon 49
3-strand with clear crystal Upper Clasp from Beadalon

Materials for black bracelet:

78 jet 6mm round Swarovski crystals
34 AB clear 4mm bicone Swarovski crystals
Buckle clasp with inset Swarovski crystals
.015” silver-plated Beadalon 49

4 silver 2mm crimp beads
Adhesive tape
Chain nose pliers
Wire cutters

Instructions

1. Cut six 14” lengths of silver-plated Beadalon wire.

2. Gather the wires into two sets of three wires each and string a crimp bead onto the end of each set. Use chain nose pliers to flatten the crimps. (I would typically recommend using a crimping tool anytime you crimp but this type of clasp calls for a special exception.)

3. Pass each set of wires through a hole on the clasp.

(4)

4. Working with one set of wires, pass the outer wire through a clear bead and a black bead. Hold the other two wires together and pass them through a clear bead and a black bead.

(5)

5. Pass the outer wire through another black bead, pick up the inner wires and pass them through the opposite side of the same bead. Pull the wires gently to tighten the stitch.

(6)

6. Make another stitch using the other set of wires: Pass 2 wires through a clear bead and the lower black bead from the other set of wires. Pass the outer wire through a clear bead and a black bead, then pass the outer wire and the other 2 wires through opposite ends of an additional black bead. Drop an outer wire in each set. (This photo shows loose stitches so you can see the wire pathways.)

(7)

7. Hold the inner wires together and pass them through a black bead. Pass one working outer wire through a black bead. (This photo shows the previous stitches tightened.)

(8A)
(8B)

8A. Pass one inner wire and the working outer wire through opposite ends of a black bead to complete one stitch.
8B: Repeat this step with the other set of wires.

(9)

9. Repeat Steps 7-8 to make 13 more stitches.

(10A)

(10B)

10A: Pass each outer wire through a black bead, a clear bead and the corresponding hole on the clasp. Hold the inner wires together and pass them through a black bead.
10B: Separate the wires and pass each one through a clear bead and an outer hole on the clasp. (This should look just like the beginning of the bracelet.) Place a piece of tape over the wires close the clasp to hold the beads in place.

(11A)

(11B)

11. Pick up one of the empty wires from Step 6 and pass it through a clear bead. Bring it diagonally across the stitch and through the next horizontal black bead in a zig-zag pattern. Repeat this step to add a clear bead in the center of each stitch on both rows of stitches.

12. Pass one wire end through the last horizontal black bead, the very last black bead and the last clear bead that are already strung. Then, pass the wire through the corresponding hole on the clasp. Repeat for the other side.

13. Remove the tape from the wires and pass each set of wires through a crimp bead. Use chain nose pliers to flatten the crimp beads. Cut off any extra wire.
