Memory wire is the secret ingredient in this fun knotted bracelet. It provides structure for this colorful coiled bracelet that you'll wear again and again!

Materials & tools for the bracelet:
17 of each color Dark Neon 8mm glass BeadMaster rounds
3 ½ yards of Dark Neon BeadMaster knotting cord
3 ½ continuous loops of Beadalon bracelet-size memory wire
memory wire shears
memory wire pliers or round-nose pliers
scissors
Beadalon bead stringing glue or jeweler's cement

Materials & tools for the charms:
2 Dark Neon 8mm glass BeadMaster rounds
4 Dark Neon 4mm glass BeadMaster rounds
2 antique silver 8mm TierraCast bead caps
2 antique silver bird TierraCast beads
4 silver medium ball Beadalon head pins
round-nose pliers
chain-nose pliers
wire cutters

Tip: Always use memory wire shears to cut memory wire. Since it's made of tempered steel, it might ruin ordinary wire cutters.

For the bracelet:

  1. Use memory wire pliers (or round-nose pliers) to make a loop at one end of the memory wire by turning it against the curve of the wire.
  2. String all of the beads for the bracelet and then loop the other end. There should be a couple of inches of exposed wire between the last bead and the loop.
  3. Place the center of the cord at the base of one of the loops.
  4. Tie a square knot around the memory wire*, then slide a bead up, wrap the cords around the bead and tie another knot below the bead.
  5. Continue tying knots between beads until you reach the end of the bracelet.
  6. After you tie the last knot, add a drop of glue and let it dry.
  7. Cut off any extra cord.

For the charms:

  1. Pass a head pin through a 8mm round, bead cap and 4mm round and make a wrapped loop to connect it to the end loop on the bracelet.
  2. Pass a head pin through a bird and 4mm round, then make a wrapped loop to connect it to the end loop on the bracelet.
  3. Repeat Steps 1-2 to attach charms to the other end of the bracelet.

*To tie a square knot over memory wire, use the memory wire as the center strand. Bring the right hemp cord over the memory wire with the tail extending to the left. Bring the left cord under the memory wire and up through the loop on the right side. Repeat in the opposite direction to complete the square.
