Faux Druzy – Susan Lenart Kazmer

Resin-made Druzy Stones

These stones are beautiful and look just like the druzy I have been using in my work.
Create your molds as above using a two-part molding putty. Create circles, rectangles, triangles, any simple shapes. You can make these stones in two resin pours. Your stone should be a half inch tall.

 1. Once you have your negative rubber silicone mold, fill one quarter high with an oil paint base of resin mixture; I used white.
2. When this layer has dried, mix a small container of clear resin and paint another thin layer of resin onto the surface.
3. Using glass glitter (there are many different kinds of glitter) sprinkle in abundance onto this layer of resin, overfilling. You can use a coarse or fine grit glitter; whichever you prefer, druzys are naturally both ways.
4. When this has dried pop your piece out and you have a stone to put into a bezel.

Druzy bezel
Mix up a small amount of ICE Resin as a forever "glue" and paint a thin layer onto the cast resin base.
Sprinkle a ton of Glass Glitter onto the top and tamps it down with her finger for good adhesion. (This is glass so be careful!)
Shakes off the excess and let it dry.
