Vintage-style sliders are typically used for multiple-strand designs, but they also make beautiful focal elements for earrings.

Loops on the back (instead of holes in the sides) make it easier to attach jump rings and eye pins to form the structure.

Artistic Wire® 22-gauge antique brass (or eye pins)
2 antique brass ear wires
Round-nose pliers
Chain-nose pliers
Wire cutters

Instructions: 

1. Cut a 6” length of wire, make a basic loop and attach it to one of the upper loops on the back of the slider. (If you're using eye pins, simply attach the loop.) Attach one wire (or eye pin) to the other upper back loop.
2. Bend both wires in a right angle at the center of the slider so they extend upward. Coil one wire  around the other for about 1/4”, then pass it through a rondelle, a silver bead and make a wrapped loop to attach it to an ear wire.
3. Pass a wire through: silver, step, jump ring/teardrop, step, silver and make a basic loop. Bend it in a slight U shape. Connect a jump ring/teardrop to each end loop.
4. Connect the outer jump rings to the lower loops on the back of the slider. Repeat the steps to make a matching earring.
