TASSEL MAKER INSTRUCTIONS

Instructions:
1.  Attach the Tassel Maker onto a Non-Porous surface such as a plate or countertop.  If the suction cups do not stay stuck the surface has some porocity, you will need to find another surface.  Press the suction cups down onto the surface firmly on all 4 corners.

2.  Use Thread or Cotton Tassel Cord. Unscrew one of the wing nuts enough to catch a piece of the material between the washer and the truss, leaving about 3 - 4 in (7.6 - 10.1 cm) extra for a tying the tassel later.  Insert the mandrels into the outer-most holes in the truss and tighten the wing nuts.

3.  Loosen then tighten the wing nut to secure the tying tails onto the Tassel Maker.

4.  Wrap the material by loosely holding the threads in your non-dominant hand.  Turn the crank on the handle of the Tassel Maker.

5.  The fastened end of the material will need to cross over the truss and onto the steel bars as shown.

6.  Wrap the material by turning the crank.

7.  Continue to wrap until the desired thickness of Tassel is reached.

Tip: Count the number of revolutions to allow you to reproduce the equal size Tassels later.

8.  Once the desired number of revolutions has been reached, cut the material and leave a 4 in (10.1 cm) extra length.  The samples we showed were 25 revolutions with 2 strands of Tassel Cord.

9.   Place the ends of the material into the end of pointy tweezers.

10.  Push the tweezers and the material through the center of the wrapped material.

11.  Bring the loose end back through the loop formed in step 9, then grasp the end with the tweezers and pull tight.

12.  Repeat steps 9-11 to tie another knot to secure the material.

13.  Make sure the second knot is pulled tight.

14.  Loosen the wing-nut that is holding the beginning of the material, gently pull it free, and re-tighten the wing-nut.

15.  Using the new freed material, repeat Steps 9-11 to secure the other side.

16.   Make sure the second knot is pulled tight.

17.  Loosen, but DO NOT remove, one of the wing nuts.

18.   Once the wing nut has been loosened enough, the peg will angle.

19.  Slide the tassel loop off of the tassel maker.

TASSEL MAKER INSTRUCTIONS

20.   Open a Jump Ring and scoop up the tassel loop.

21.  Close the Jump Ring onto the Tassel loop.

22.  Make sure the Jump Ring is closed completely so that the Tassel material cannot slip through the opening.

23.  Cut a piece of thread about 12 in (30 cm) long and begin to wrap around one of the loose ends.

24.  Leaving about a 6 in (15.2 cm) tail, make several wraps to secure the tassel to the Jump Ring, make certain that the opening is away from the material, and that the wrapped material is tight around the material and up against the jump ring.

25.  Tie a double knot with the ends of the material used to tie off the end.

26.  Pull the double knot carefully so that it does not bind.

27.  Snug the double knot down to the surface of the Tassel material.

28.  Use a small amount of Bead Stringing Glue at the knot. Before cutting the ends allow some time so the glue can dry, repeat steps 21-28 on the other side of the Tassel loop.

29.  To make a pair of tassels, cut in half with sharp scissors.

30.  Carefully trim the ends of the Tassel to your desired shape. Repeat on the other Tassel.

31.   Attach the tassels to ear wires for the finished pair.
