Tips & Tricks for Illusion-style Designs
Beadalon 49 is a good choice for illusion-style designs because it has the most flexible, threadlike drape. This is very important when there is exposed wire in a design.

Choose the diameter of Beadalon 49 wire based on the hole-sizes of your beads. Beadalon .024" (shown here) lends a beautiful metallic shine to your designs.

Crimp beads (round) are commonly used to hold beads in place in illusion and floating style necklaces because they are smaller and less noticeable than crimp tubes (cylindrical).

Refer to the wire packaging to determine the right crimp size of crimp beads or tubes for your design.

To make a Floating necklace :
1. String crystal or crystal pearl onto the center of the Beadalon wire. Attach a crimp bead on each side of the beaded section to hold the beads in place.

To make an Illusion Style necklace :
1. String a focal bead onto the wire with a crimp bead on each side. Use a crimping tool to attach the crimp bead: use the outer notch first to make an oval shape, then inner notch to make a crease, then fold it over using the outer notch.

2. Use the same method to attach beads evenly spaced on the beading wire. To make sure the spacing is even, use a beading board to measure the distance between beads or slide a piece of rubber tubing over the wire before crimping. Remove the tubing to add a bead and crimp again.

3. You can leave the crimp bead as-is, or you can add a crimp cover. Crimp covers are special beads that hide the crimp bead and add a more decorative look.
