Make a knitted wire tube and braid it together with beaded strands, chain and fibers for a funky multi-strand necklace.

Materials
122 Bead Gallery® 4mm stone rounds
28-gauge Artistic Wire
decorative yarn
Beadalon Rolo and elongated cable chain
2 Beadalon beading cones
Beadalon toggle clasp
Beadalon 19 beading wire & 2 crimp tubes
Artistic Wire Knitter Tool
Beadalon beading awl
Round-nose pliers
Chain-nose pliers
Wire cutters
Crimping tool

  1. Attach a 1” length of Rolo chain to the toggle bar (this will make it easier to fasten the necklace).
  2. Cut two 20” lengths of chain. Fold a length of yarn in half and knot it together at each end so the yarn is the same length as the chain. Cut a 22” length of beading wire and pass one end through a crimp tube, fold it in a small loop and place it back through the crimp tube; crimp it. String beads, then crimp the other end in a loop and trim off extra wire if necessary – the whole strand should equal 20”.
  3. Follow the Artistic Wire Knitter Tool instructions (below) to make a 20” knitted tube out of 26-gauge wire. Leave a 6” tail at the beginning and end.
  4. Remove the tube from the tool and twist it together at the end.  Repeat for the other end.
  5. Pass one wire end through the first link on the chains, the beaded strand loop and just below the knot on the yarn. Loop the wire around the stringing materials and twist it again to secure them in place.
  6. Pass the wire through a beading cone. Fold the wire in half , then make a wrapped loop to connect it to half of the clasp.
  7. Separate the materials into three sections: the knitted tube, the beaded strand and the chain/yarn. Loosely braid them together.
  8. Repeat Steps 5-6 to finish the end of the necklace.
