This charming reversible bracelet was designed to complement special red and purple clothing and accessories. The charms are attached to the end loops of the multi strand clasp so they can always be seen whether the red or the purple side is showing.

Wide reversible bead knit bracelets may also be made without a clasp. Like all knitting, bead knit bracelets have “give” (stretch memory) and will stretch some, to fit over the hand hand. After putting on a bracelet without a clasp, the bracelet can be compressed lightly against the wrist, to help it recall its original shape and size before stretching.

Materials Needed
360 red 8º beads
360 purple metallic 8º beads
18 yards of gold metallic thread with polyester core
1 purse charm
1 handbag charm
2 shoe charms
4 gold jump rings
1 –1” long gold multi strand clasp
Pair 0000 double point steel knitting needles
Hypo cement (jewelers glue)
Twisted wire needle
#24 tapestry needle

Instructions
String: Double 18 yards of gold metallic thread (now a 9 yard length) through a twisted wire needle. Wind all but three yards of this 9 yard length onto a bobbin. String 6 red beads then 6 purple beads onto the thread. Repeat until all the beads are strung.

Construction:
After row 1, except for the first stitch of each row, every stitch that is made will be knit with a bead. The first stitch is always slipped purl wise, keeping the thread to the back. Slipping the first stitch creates an edge that is straight and firm.
Be sure every bead you knit stays at the back of the work, as you knit, and does not “pop through” to the front. If necessary, hold the bead in place while you complete knitting the stitch. Do this for every stitch you knit with beads

Cast on 7 stitches leaving 10” tails
Row 1: knit 7 stitches
Row 2: Slip 1 stitch purl wise, keeping the working needle in front and the thread to the
back of the needle holding the stitches. *Slide 1purple bead down, knit 1 stitch.
Repeat from * 5 more times for a total of 6 stitches knit with beads.
Rows 3: through 121: Repeat row 2
Last row: Check the fit of the bracelet band before casting off. Allowing for the clasp, be certain the band fits the wrist comfortably. Remove or add rows as needed.
Then cast off very carefully, taking care not to tighten the thread too much. The length of the cast on row and of the cast off row should be the same. Cut thread leaving 10 inch tails.

Finishing:
Using the tail threads and a #24 tapestry needle sew one end of the bead knit bracelet to one row of loops on the clasp. Repeat with the other end. Bury, knot, glue and trim all the tails.
Attach two charms to one end loop on the clasp with a gold jump ring. Attach the other two charms to the other end loop.
