Silk Flower Necklace

Materials Needed:

Paula Radke Flower Pendant
Matching small Flower Charms
Paula Radke #19 mini roundels on black glass
Paula Radke #19 mini roundels on clear glass
Paula Radke #LH22 matching color large hole bead
Ute Bernsen Silk Cords/Silk Paintingisfun.com

No special tools are required. An awl is nice for pushing the silks through the beads and instant type glue for “assuring” your knots.

Instructions:
  1. Pick three colors of silk that you like with your pendant and charm pieces.
  2. Fold silks in half. Push the folded end through the front of the pendant until it forms a small loop. Pull the ends of the silks through the small loop and tighten around the pendant.
  3. Divide the silk into the desired color groups of each side of the necklace. Add one #19 to one of the silk cords. Put the other two strands of silk through another color oft #19 beads.
  4. Add the small flower charm by pushing two strands of silk through the back of the charm and one through the front of the charm and ‘snuggle’ into place.
  5. Repeat Step 3 using a different color #19 for each strand.
  6. Repeat Step 4
  7. Repeat Step 3
  8. Slide all six strands of silk through a #LH10 bead of an appropriate color.
  9. Add one #19 to the end of each strand of silk. Knot each end and add a touch of glue for extra security.
  10. For a tasseled pendant; Take a 7 inch piece of silk and run it through a piece of silk holding the pendant on from the back side of the pendant. Go through only one strand of silk for maximum mobility.
  11. Slide onto both strands of the silk tassel one #19 of appropriate color dichroic.
  12. Add two #19 of alternating clear and black to one end of the silk tassel. Tie and glue the knot at the end of the tassel.
  13. Add three #19 of alternating clear and black to the other end of the silk tassel. Tie and glue knot at the remaining strand.

Tip:  Tassels look best if uneven.
